Popup Direct exhibition display and graphic company defies downward trend

2009 is over, It was a very difficult and miserable year for most, with the massive problems of the credit crunch affecting sales across the exhibition display industry.
One of the exhibition display industry top players bucking the trend is Popup Direct as they have seen an upsurge in sales in the last six months.

Downsizing your exhibition display– more bang for your bucks!
Because most company budgets have been slashed and therefore value for money is paramount, many have downsized from expensive custom build exhibition displays to less expensive modular self build exhibition displays. Downsizing this way saves money whilst retaining the quality and visual impact required for exhibiting, it opens up different options for exhibition displays which may have been overlooked in the past.

Exhibition display - Artwork, giving a brief

When you’ve booked your stand space and decided what exhibition display you are going to use you then need to decide on the design of the artwork. The artwork is critical in making use of the space allocated. You must think hard what you require on the artwork as this will be the message you give to potential clients and suppliers. Firstly, you must draw up a full comprehensive brief detailing exactly what your requirements are, this would, for example include making sure that the artwork has the company logo, website address and some contact details. For others it may be more important to get across more generic branding. Once you have the initial framework for what you require you can then go to a designer or marketing agency and have them develop the graphics for your exhibition display. The more comprehensive the brief, the quicker (important when you are paying by the hour) the designer can get to what you want. If you give a bad brief, it will take longer and end up being more expensive for you in the long run. Make sure you talk to all the relevant members of your staff or team before commissioning a design to avoid lengthy and costly amends or redesigns. A little organisation and preparation will get you what you want, quickly and efficiently.

Exhibition display - working out your budget

An exhibition display can be a major undertaking for any company and like any marketing promotion you have to keep an eye on the project or costs can spiral. In order to budget you must understand some of the basic requirements that you my encounter.
Your first consideration is space. Most exhibition display venues will offer space only, this is charged by the square metre. The other option is shell scheme which means that your exhibition display has panels and a headboard which enables you to  turn up and attach your graphics to it.
From this the next process is the stand design and build. Prices vary depending on the complexity of the stand design and as to whether you use a stand designer to build and breakdown the exhibition display. It is easy to forget that once the stand is built it will require lighting and power supply, it is worth checking on this early in the process to avoid heavy costs from the event organisers.

So, the exhibition display is ready to go to the show, if it’s not built in to the stand design costs,
you will now need to transport your exhibition display. Where possible it is a good idea to have all elements that you are taking to the show ready, for example, any literature, furniture so that you make less trips. Finally make sure that you, your staff and the exhibition are covered by insurance to avoid any litigation should an unsuspecting individual be hurt by your exhibition display.

Exhibition display - furniture and accessories

When you are looking at a new exhibition display one of the many things that you need to take into account is whether you require any exhibition display furniture. This is usually the last piece of the puzzle after painstakingly liaising with suppliers, sourcing hardware and designing the graphics.
Exhibition display furniture and accessories can add the finishing touches to your exhibition display, giving your stand a professional look. It’s not just about tables and chairs, there are a wide range of  cabinets, bars, podiums, holders, fridges, literature racks, stands, Televisions, monitors, Projectors, computers, switches and video consoles.

Virtually anything can be sourced in one form or another, but do not panic!, the majority of exhibition display furniture and accessories are hired out for the duration of the show that you are attending so there’s no need to worry about purchasing and storing the items. An ideal solution for exhibition display furniture is to use a supplier that sources this for you alongside producing the graphics and supplying the hardware thus taking the stress and strain away so you can concentrate on your business.

Exhibition Display - ISOframe

Pop up stands, banner stands and the twist systems have been around for a while now. The downside of these is that they have no or limited flexibility and movement. The Twist exhibition display is flexible but limited to the use of a flexi link panel between each banner. A recent addition to the range of exhibition stands is the new ISOframe system.

ISOframe is the world’s first 100% flexible exhibition display system. This exhibition display system is very easy to use, taking approximately only ten minutes to put up from scratch, and has stunning looks with seamless graphics. The infinite flexibility is a revolution in the exhibition display industry. Using the one system a wide variety of shapes can be achieved allowing you to exhibit at different venues and in different sized locations.

The ISOframe has a variety of features which set it apart from usual exhibition displays, I-line alignment perfectly aligns your graphics, magnetic support fits the graphics without curl, 800mm wide graphics that are interchangeable, fast clamp connectors secure the base supports and the flexi-wave link creates a strong, flexible framework. In addition the exhibition display can be fitted with mounting brackets to support a LCD Monitor to allow audio visual presentations plus you can add counters to the system which can carry the main graphic message.

Exhibition displays - Shell Clad system

For anyone familiar with these forms of exhibition displays the shell Clad system is widely regarded as the best way to dress any shell scheme, it gives the closest representation of a custom build exhibition stand at a fraction of the cost.

What is shell clad? Shell clad is a plastic clip that slots into the shell schemes and therefore allows the application of seamless graphics to the shell scheme quickly and easily.
Exhibition stand designers, exhibitors and exhibition contractors utilise this worldwide on their exhibition displays. Some of the advantages of Shell clad over posters and Foamex boards in exhibition displays are that it is quick and simple to setup, allows seamless graphics with no pole’s showing and an overall more professional appearance to your exhibition displays.

What about pop up displays and banner stands I hear you cry? Well in answer to this shell clad uses less floor space and utilises the entire back wall space, fitting perfectly edge to edge. The shell clad system can be used on virtually all shell scheme systems including Octanorm, Nimlok, Quad 4, Normex, Sodem, Modul, Premier profile and Form, thus transforming your exhibition displays.

Enhance your exhibition display

An exhibition display can be used to put your best foot forward no matter what the occasion. It is an opportunity for you to show what your company provides with visuals and can go a long way to impressing your audience.

The emphasis is on impressing your audience because commercial exhibitions are great sales opportunities. You have the chance to leave a lasting impression on someone and to turn them into a customer. In the tough economic times the world faces, no business can afford to pass that up.

Going a step further

Having great graphics and a stylish exhibition stand is only part of your exhibition display potential. What can enhance your display even more so are high quality accessories and display furniture. Display exhibition furniture does not stop at a table or a chair. It encompasses technology and other items as well. At Pop-Up Direct we offer you the opportunity to enhance your exhibition display with an array of extras.

Tables and chairs can add an element of comfort to your exhibition display, adding a conversational atmosphere or functional display space. Desks and display counters will add touches of professionalism when forms need filling out or products need displaying.

TV’s, projectors and their stands add an interactive element to any exhibition display, making it more attractive to passers by. Even more eye-catching than static graphics are video clips. All of these accessories and extras enhance your exhibition display enough to make a difference to your audience and how they perceive your display.

The importance of a good exhibition display

Exhibitions are important for any business. No matter if they are at a trade show, a conference or a meeting. Your exhibition display is an extension of your company and as such should reflect your company in every aspect of the display.

In essence, when you are not there, your exhibition display stands in as a representative of your business. If your display is poor and does not meet your company standards it is a very poor reflection on your business. It tells all those who can see it that you do not care about making your company look good in the eyes of the public.

A poor exhibition display is similar to having a shabby member of staff representing you. It doesn’t bode well for profits, recruiting new clients and standing out among competitors. Good impressions go a long way to making your business a success.

Making that impression

Your exhibition display should leave a lasting impression on all who see it and that is why here at Pop-Up Direct we make it our business to make you look good. We can supply you with a wide variety of different display and banner stands.

You can even invest in bespoke displays to make your exhibition display even more unique. Our products are top quality so that you can reflect your professionalism through your display. Choose from our stylish stands and displays to enhance your company’s image and reputation and to make the right first impression with any crowd.

How to Give Your Exhibition Display Stand Extra Impact

If you’re at a busy event, how do you get people to come over to your exhibition display stand? Firstly, location at trade shows and exhibitions is everything. Check you will be in a good spot with a ready flow of traffic past your exhibition display stand

Once there, clearly it helps if you make your exhibition display stand open, friendly, interesting and attractive.

Don’t spend all the time standing behind your exhibition display stand. Get out into the area immediately surrounding it, and approach people proactively so that they come and see what you offer.

Once they are at your exhibition display stand, show them samples, give them literature and information and explain to them in detail what you do.

Finally, don’t let potential customers drift off from your exhibition display stand without full details of how they can find out more about your organisation.
